Placement
Place your Calathea in a room that gets a medium amount of natural light. Overly bright, sunny windows should be avoided or her vibrant leaves will start to fade. Rotate the plant occasionally to encourage even growth.
Light Requirements
The Calathea prefers indirect light. Morning sunlight is fine, but it’s best to avoid intense afternoon sunlight.
Watering Needs
Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry. When watering, water the plant moderately and slowly from above, allowing water to soak through to the roots, then tip out any excess water. Be sure to avoid soggy soil. Note: The White Fusion Calathea is very sensitive to fluoride in water. It’s best to water the plant with distilled water.
Temperature Preferences
Does well at room temperature between 60°F – 77°F. Cold temperatures or rooms with strong drafts should be avoided.
Humidity Tolerance
Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 75% or above. If the air around the plant is too dry, you can mist its leaves from time to time.
Repotting Needs
The plant can live happily in the provided pot for up to a year. Check if the plant is ready to be repotted by touching the soil and seeing if it has become loose, or if the roots have become overgrown. Repot using a good quality potting mix. Unhealthy Plant Signs
Curling or spotted leaves means the plant is not getting enough water. Browning leaves mean the plant needs a more humid environment. Over-watering or cold weather can lead to rotten and limp stems. During winter, the plant should be watered less frequently. Fading leaf color means the plant is getting too much direct sunlight. Be sure to cut off brown, crispy, or damaged leaves to keep the plant neat and healthy.
