A giant loose in the garden! Etlingera stems can grow to heights of 18 to 20 feet and sport 3 foot long leathery leaves that are dark green. In late summer/fall flower stems grow to 3 to 6 feet in height. Atop the lofty stem is a red waxy flower cluster which reminds one of a lit torch. This is among the worlds most tropical looking exotics.
