Sonerila Lime Green Care Guide :

Light Requirements

Sonerila Lime Green prefers bright, indirect light. It grows naturally on shaded forest floors where sunlight is filtered through tree canopies. Indoors, place it near an east-facing window or under grow lights with moderate intensity. Avoid direct sunlight, especially harsh afternoon sun, as it can burn the leaves and cause fading or crisp edges. Too little light will result in slower growth and dull color. Under good light, the lime-green tones stay vibrant and fresh.

Watering
This plant enjoys consistent moisture but is sensitive to overwatering. Keep the growing medium evenly moist, never fully dry and never soggy. Water when the top 1–2 cm of the medium starts to feel slightly dry. Use room-temperature water and water gently to avoid disturbing shallow roots. Because Sonerila has fine roots, drying out too much can quickly cause leaf droop and damage. At the same time, waterlogged soil can lead to root rot. Good drainage is essential.

Humidity
High humidity is one of the most important factors for success. Sonerila Lime Green thrives at 70–90% humidity. It performs best in terrariums, closed containers, or humidity cabinets. In normal room humidity, leaf edges may dry or curl. You can increase humidity using a dome cover, humidity tray, or humidifier. If growing in very high humidity, ensure gentle airflow to prevent fungal issues.

Temperature
This is a warm-growing tropical plant that prefers temperatures between 20–28°C. Avoid exposure to temperatures below 16°C. Keep it away from cold drafts, air conditioners, and sudden temperature fluctuations. Stable warmth supports steady growth and prevents stress.

Soil / Growing Medium
Use a light, airy, moisture-retentive mix. A suitable blend includes cocopeat or peat moss, fine orchid bark, perlite, and a bit of compost or leaf mold. The mix should hold moisture but still allow excess water to drain easily. Many growers successfully use terrarium-style substrates with added sphagnum moss. Avoid dense garden soil that compacts around roots.

Fertilizing
Sonerila Lime Green is a light feeder. Apply a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer (at one-quarter strength) every 3–4 weeks during the growing season. Over-fertilizing can damage the delicate root system and cause leaf burn. Organic mild feeds like seaweed extract also work well. Reduce feeding during slower growth periods.

Potting and Containers
Because the plant stays small, shallow pots or terrarium planters work best. Containers must have drainage holes unless grown in a carefully balanced closed terrarium system. Repot only when necessary, as frequent disturbance can stress the plant. Handle roots gently during repotting.

Pruning and Maintenance
Minimal pruning is required. Remove yellowing or damaged leaves with clean scissors. This helps prevent fungal spread and keeps the plant tidy. Do not heavily trim — the plant prefers to stay compact and naturally shaped.

Propagation
Propagation is usually done through stem cuttings or division of clumps. Cuttings root best in high humidity with warm temperatures. Place cuttings in moist sphagnum or fine substrate and keep covered until established.

Common Problems
Low humidity is the most common cause of trouble, leading to crispy edges and leaf drop. Overwatering causes stem and root rot. Watch for fungus gnats in very moist mixes. Good airflow and clean substrate help prevent pest and fungal issues.

With bright filtered light, high humidity, warm temperatures, and careful watering, Sonerila Lime Green becomes a stunning jewel plant — perfect for terrariums and premium indoor plant collections.
