Tip: we recommend Etsy for buying plants. Look for the best rated seller you can, and try to buy as close to your home as possible so the plant does not travel too far.

Philodendron Majestic Light Needs

Bright indirect sunlight is the way to go! No direct sun though, they do well to the side of a south facing window so they get a lot of light but are shaded from direct midday sun.

How Often to Water

Check the plant every week, stick your finger in the soil. Only water it if the top 50% is dry.

Tip: keep soil a little bit moist, letting it almost dry out before watering it again. They must not sit in soggy soil as they can get root easily. Make sure you don’t leave any water int eh bottom saucer after watering.

Fertilizer

Feed your plant every month in spring and summer. Use a balanced feed or one higher in nitrogen.

Soil

You want a well draining medium that does not let the plant sit in waterlogged soil. For more on Philodendron soil see our guide on what to buy or how to make your own: Philodendron Soil.

When To Repot

You can repot it any time of year really, but definitely check it in spring to be sure it has space to grow as the weather gets better.

Tip: give them a moss pole or trellis to help them climb, keep them sturdy and to show off those impressive leaves. Importantly it will help to encourage bigger leaf growth.

Philodendron Majestic Humidity

60-70% is a good range that will get the best out of the plant. Keep it misted, especially in drier months.

Temperature

Aim for 18°C to 30°C (64-86°F) during the day. Try to keep them above a minimum temperature of 12°C (54°F) at night or in the winter.

Philodendron Majestic Propagation

To propagate your philodendron majestic follow these steps:

  • Take a cutting with at least one leaf and a node.
  • Let the cutting callous over for at least two hours to seal the wound and reduce chance of rot.
  • Put the cutting in a jar of water to root
  • Keep it in a warm bright window sill, but to the side out of direct sunlight.
  • It should root well in under two months and you can then pot it up into soil.

They are both big leaved philodendrons with silver on their leaves. The mamei is a mor e luscious brighter green which the majestic is darker.
