Maranta ‘Lemon Lime,’ a popular variety of prayer plant, is known for its light green leaves with dark green veins, creating a beautiful contrast.

To keep your Maranta Lemon Lime healthy and thriving, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Light: Maranta Lemon Lime prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. A location near an east or north-facing window or a few feet away from a south or west-facing window is ideal.
  2. Watering: Maintain consistently moist soil, watering your Maranta when the top inch of the soil feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to over-water or under-water, as both can lead to brown leaves and other issues. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
  3. Humidity: Maranta Lemon Lime loves high humidity, around 50-60%. To increase humidity, you can:
  • Place a tray filled with water and pebbles under the pot, ensuring the pot doesn’t touch the water directly.
  • Mist the leaves regularly with distilled or filtered water.
  • Use a humidifier near the plant.
  • Group your Maranta with other humidity-loving plants to create a microclimate.
  1. Temperature: This plant thrives in a consistent room temperature of 65-80°F (18-27°C). Avoid placing your Maranta Lemon Lime near vents, heaters, or drafty windows, as it is sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
  2. Soil: Use a well-draining, peat-based soil mix for your Maranta Lemon Lime. A mix containing 40-50% peat moss, 20-30% perlite, 10-20% vermiculite, and 10-20% orchid bark or coco coir works well. The ideal soil pH is slightly acidic, around 6.0 to 6.5.
  3. Fertilization: Feed your Maranta Lemon Lime with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every four to six weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to salt buildup in the soil and damage your plant.
  4. Pruning and Maintenance: Trim any brown or damaged leaves to keep your plant looking its best. Regularly clean the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesize efficiently.
  5. Repotting: Repot your Maranta Lemon Lime every 1-2 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot with drainage holes and a fresh, well-draining soil mix.
