Peace Lily Wallisii Care Guide :

Light Requirements

Peace Lily grows best in bright, indirect light. It tolerates low-light conditions better than many houseplants, which makes it suitable for indoor rooms with filtered light. However, very low light will slow growth and reduce flowering. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and cause brown patches. A spot near an east- or north-facing window is usually perfect.

Temperature
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures between 18–30°C. It does not tolerate cold drafts or sudden temperature drops. Keep it away from air conditioners, heaters, and open windows during cold weather. Temperatures below 12–13°C can stress the plant and damage foliage.

Watering
Peace Lily likes consistently moist soil but not soggy conditions. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. One helpful feature is that Peace Lily visibly droops when thirsty, making it easy to know when to water. After watering, the leaves usually perk back up within hours. Always empty excess water from the tray to prevent root rot. Use room-temperature water if possible, since very cold water can shock the roots.

Humidity
Being a tropical plant, Peace Lily enjoys moderate to high humidity. It grows better when humidity is above 50%. In dry indoor environments, leaf tips may turn brown. Increase humidity by misting occasionally, placing the pot on a pebble tray with water, or grouping plants together. Bathrooms and kitchens with good light are often great locations.

Soil and Potting Mix
Use a well-draining, rich potting mix. A blend of regular potting soil with coco peat and perlite or sand works well. The soil should hold some moisture but never stay waterlogged. Choose a pot with drainage holes. Peace Lily prefers being slightly root-bound, so do not overpot. Repot only when roots start circling heavily or emerging from drainage holes.

Fertilizing

Feed with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in autumn and winter. Overfertilizing can cause brown leaf tips and salt buildup in soil. Flush the soil occasionally with plain water to remove excess salts.

Flowering
Peace Lily produces its signature white spathes (flower bracts) surrounding a central spike. Flowers last several weeks and may appear multiple times a year under good conditions. Bright indirect light is the key to blooming. If your plant has healthy leaves but no flowers, it likely needs more light. Removing spent flowers helps redirect energy to new growth.

Pruning and Cleaning
Remove yellow or damaged leaves by cutting them at the base with clean scissors. Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them glossy. Clean leaves also photosynthesize more efficiently.

Propagation
Peace Lily is best propagated by division during repotting. Gently separate the root clumps so each section has roots and leaves, then plant in separate pots. Water well and keep in shaded light for a week while they establish.

Common Problems
Brown leaf tips are usually caused by low humidity, overfertilizing, or chemicals in tap water. Yellow leaves often indicate overwatering. Drooping leaves usually mean the plant needs water — or in some cases, that roots are stressed from poor drainage. Check soil moisture before adjusting care.

Safety Note
Peace Lily is mildly toxic if chewed or ingested by pets or children, causing mouth irritation. Keep out of reach if necessary.

With filtered light, steady moisture, and warm conditions, Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum wallisii) remains one of the easiest and most rewarding indoor plants to grow.
