Here are some tips for caring for a Polyscias Crispata, also known as the Chicken Gizzard Aralia or Parsley Aralia: 

  • Watering: Keep the soil moist but not saturated. Water deeply and allow the soil to almost dry out before watering again. In the winter, you can water every other week. 
  • Light: Place the plant in medium bright light, such as next to a west or east window. Too little light can cause the plant to lose its leaves, while too much light can burn them. 
  • Temperature and humidity: Polyscias prefers a warm and humid environment with a temperature of 18 to 29°C and humidity around 50-60%. If the air is too dry or cold, the plant may drop its leaves. You can mist the plant regularly or group several plants together to increase the humidity. 
  • Pruning: Regularly prune the plant to keep its foliage full. New leaves will quickly grow from the cut branches. 
  • Fertilizing: Fertilize regularly from early spring until late fall. 
  • Soil: Plant in well-draining soil to prevent the plant’s roots from rotting. 
Polyscias are small, branching trees that grow upright and compact, making them suitable for smaller spaces. Their thick, woody trunks and large, rounded leaves are their main appeal.
