The Monstera Esqueleto, formerly knows as Epipremnoides. Beautifully fenestrated foliage with leaves that can grow pretty large. A rare one for sure!   Extremely special plant with large leaves over 60cm span.

Water: 2-3 times a week. They need well-draining soil.

Fertiliser: Recommend Gaviota 63 foliar fertilizer and /or lactobacillus Aquis organic fertilizer once a week.

Monstera Epipremnoides, nowadays called Monstera Esqueleto, is larger than Monstera Adansonii and the fenestrations are much more intense. It belongs to the same family called Aracea, the arum family. It’s is a flowering evergreen and a distinctive characteristic of aroids is the inflorescence or flower called spadix that is often covered by a spathe.

A close relative of the Swiss Cheese Plant, Monstera Deliciosa, it is often also referred to as Philodendron or Monstera Obliqua, however a true Obliqua is more hole than leaf and nowhere near as attractive as this little chap. The leaves of this plant don’t split as they grow older, but they form holes alongside the veins.

It is easy to care for so long as it has moist, warm conditions and does appreciate light and high humidity. The plant has a vining habit and often grows entwined in and around itself, with new leaves and vines sometimes growing through the holes in existing leaves. This can lead to leaves tearing which gives the plant a shabby chic rather that pristine appeal.

Place the Monstera in a semi shady or light spot, in filtered sunlight. Make sure the potting soil is always mildly moist, but not wet. It’s best to water the plant regularly, and to give small amount of water each time, just enough to moisten the potting soil. We also recommend regularly misting the leaves to maintain a high humidity.
