Introduction

The anthurium veitchii aka the King Anthurium has large leaves for an anthurium, which are long and elongated with horizontal wrinkles all the way down. It is known for it’s ruffles on it’s leaves. It’s an epiphytic plant that originates from Colombia.

Care Guide :

Water

Check your anthurium veitchii once a week in winter and twice in summer. Water them when the top 25% of soil is dry, check twice a week.

Fertilizer

Feed your anthuriums once a month in summer using a high nitrogen plant feed.

Soil

Use a very well draining compost, a mix of orchid bark, perlite and normal compost in equal parts will be great. For more on anthurium soil (what to buy and how to make your own) see our guide here: Anthurium Soil.

When To Repot

Check your anthurium in Spring and repot if it has out grown it’s current pot or is likely to in the forthcoming growing season.

Humidity

60-70% is essential, anthuriums like this do not like lower levels, this is definitely a plant to put near a humidifier.

Temperature

18°C to 25°C (64-77°F) is ideal during the day, so they will be at home in most households. Aim for a minimum temperature of 14°C (57°F) at night, although they will be ok a bit below that sometimes.
