Here are some tips for caring for a pink anthurium, also known as a flamingo flower:
- Light: Place in a location with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight.
- Temperature: Keep in a warm room with temperatures between 65–85°F (18–27°C). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
- Water: Water when the top 2 inches of soil is dry, and allow excess water to run off. Yellow leaf tips indicate not enough water. Water less in autumn and winter.
- Humidity: Mist the leaves regularly or place the plant on a pebble tray to increase humidity.
- Soil: Use a coarse, well-draining houseplant or orchid potting mix.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a half-strength, high-potash feed.
- Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years in spring, into a slightly larger pot.
- Pruning: Remove old, faded leaves and flowers.
- Toxicity: Anthuriums are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Their sap can irritate your eyes and skin. Keep your anthuriums in a safe place away from children and pets.
